Welcome

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist in Balmain in the inner west of Sydney. I have a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Jansen Newman Institute and a Graduate Diploma in Emotionally Focused Therapy from the Institute for Emotionally Focused Therapy in Annandale. I am a clinical member of the Counsellors and Psychotherapists Association of Australia (CAPA) and the Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia (PACFA).

Counselling is a very personal experience and since every person is unique that is the view I take with regard to approaching your counselling needs. My main way of working is Emotionally Focused Therapy.

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy?

It takes us years to develop the responses we have to situations, events and people. We learn over time how to cope with life and often this involves developing unhelpful ways of dealing with emotion and equally unhelpful behaviours.

While these coping mechanisms may work for a long time, a specific event or time of life may mean we start to find it harder to bounce back. Our physical and emotional health can be affected and it can be hard to find a way through.

Using the Emotionally Focused approach together we examine where you are at present, how you came to be here and how your situation can be improved.

How does counselling work?

A session lasts for an hour. The initial session helps you make an assessment of how comfortable you feel and together we can discuss what you hope to gain from your counselling experience and your expectations and goals.

I can discuss fees and available appointment times with you on the phone or via email. I also use this opportunity to answer your questions and to form an idea of what you are seeking.

Counselling and therapy provide individuals and couples with a new perspective on who they are, where they are going and assist with leading a more fulfilling life.
