Individual Counselling

Effective counselling and psychotherapy provide a confidential environment and a skilled, impartial professional to help you understand what is going on in your life, why it is happening and how to make positive changes.

If you are struggling with feeling overwhelmed by a particular issue or situation then counselling may provide the assistance you need. Often the hardest step is finding someone to speak with and making the first appointment. An email and or phone call will help to establish if counselling would be helpful.

Common issues include:

  • Feeling there is no balance in life
  • Repeating patterns (relationships, behaviours)
  • Feeling stuck, down, unmotivated, anxious
  • Not living up to your own or others’ expectations
  • Difficulty in relationships (for example with a partner, family, children, step-children, workplace)
  • Grief and loss
  • Over-reliance on substances or problematic behaviours
  • Past traumas impacting everyday life
  • Trouble controlling impulses

Individual sessions are conducted on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Couples Counselling

Relationships are pivotal to feeling happy and fulfilled. Counselling for your relationship provides an opportunity to reconnect and remember why you chose to be with your partner in the first place.

It can be difficult or daunting to think about discussing an intimate relationship so the counsellor’s experience, depth and type of training are important.

Emotionally Focused Therapy is a proven way of helping couples address unhelpful patterns and form positive connections.

Couples consider counselling for a variety of reasons:

  • There is no fun anymore
  • Communication seems hard
  • Feeling separate and alone
  • Arguments are frequent and do not get resolved
  • Neither party feels heard
  • Betrayals have occurred and trust is lost
  • Resentments have crept in
  • Difficulty problem solving or negotiating
  • Parenting and step parenting issues
  • Issues with extended family
  • Problematic behaviours are impacting closeness

Couples sessions are conducted on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
